Winter Climate Change (2012)

April 23, 2012: Winter Climate Change in a Northern Hardwood Forest

Hubbard Brook Mirror Lake Campus
Thornton, NH

To share information among ecosystem scientists and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds — timber managers, ski resort operators, maple sugar producers, winter recreationists, and others — so that better understanding of the changes now occurring can lead to better science, improved management practices, and more informed economic decisions.

Specific meeting objectives included:

  • Inform the research community of unmet information needs and areas of interest from forest users.
  • Acquaint attendees with the scope and potentially relevant results of more than 55 years of climate records and research at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest.
  • Identify formats which make information from the Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study most useful to forest users.
  • Plan follow-up events or projects which increase the dialogue between ecosystem scientists and interested parties.
